NYCLU Broadway Stands Up for Freedom

For the last few years my fancy Broadway friends have been part of the New York Civil Liberties Union Broadway Stands Up for Freedom Concert at the Skirball Center downtown. Two years ago my good friend Maddy Wyatt wrote an original song called “Man for Me, an ode to Barack Obama”. She, along with our other bestie from the University of Michigan, Celia Keenan-Bolger, sang the ode on-stage and subsequently, Barack Obama won the presidency. Coincidence? I think not.

So this year Maddy topped herself with a new song about the popular debate surrounding gay marriage called, “Duh”. (I am sure no explanation of that title is necessary.) So as Celia so beautifully put it, here’s hoping that Maddy’s newest song does for gay marriage what “Man for Me’ did for Barack. Change is good.
